Simulating Switchgrass Production in Diverse Environments.

Jim Kiniry, USDA-ARS, 2 St. Andrews Pl., Belton, TX 76513

Switchgrass is an important bioenergy crop that has received national attention recently.  This presentation will summarize some recent work on developing parameters to simulate it in diverse environments and validation of the ALMANAC with these parameters.  I will also discuss some of the recent results of work we have done on looking at switchgrass yield potential and possibilities of increased biomass potential with plant breeding.
