Summary and Facilitated Discussion of the Impaired Waters Symposium.

Reagan M. Waskom, Colorado Water Resources Research Institute, Colorado State Univ, Fort Collins, CO 80523

The summary discussion will focus on the use and re-use of waters of impaired quality. Potential impacts from irrigation return flows, natural gas production water, municipal waste water, sediment and erosion, mining and minerals, and pharmaceuticals will be discussed. Oral papers and posters will be summarized to provide a broad picture of how those impairments relate to the potential beneficial uses or management of such waters, how those impairments might relate to agriculture, what is known about the impairments, challenges of dealing with the impairments and future research needs.
