An improved method using a natural sorbent (ARTI-64) for removing dissolved arsenic species (arsenite and arsenate) from water (e.g., drinking water, surface water, groundwater, or wastewater) is developed. Unlike existing arsenic removal methods, this process is simple, requires no pre-oxidation, no pH adjustments, produces no harmful by-products, and post-water treatment. In addition, this process is not affected by other common ions present in water and material is simple to regenerate. This process can help individual households, small and large water treatment plants, and existing water filters and purifiers to remove arsenic species from water to below 10 µg/L.
