This poster highlights the annual activities of the Washington State University Crop and Soil Sciences Club.
The main activity that we have each year is the development and hosting of the Washington State Future Farmers of America Career Development Event (FFA-CDE). Our club members, advisors and faculty members come together to create tests for insect identification, soils, grain evaluation, fertilizer application, and a team event which challenges the students to solve a problem and present the solution to a panel of judges.
As a result of the 2005 FFA-CDE we are seeking to expand our club activities to include an inter-active soil education day with area high school FFA groups. We would like to take the opportunity presented through our past activities with the Washington State FFA to educate the next generation of students about the importance of sustainable cropping systems and soil conservation.
