The solute diffusion coefficient in soil (solute diffusivity) and its dependency on soil water content and soil type controls solute movement and release from immobile water zones in soils. We present a general, predictive model for the solute diffusivity and link it to soil pore size distribution to evaluate the effect of soil type and soil water potential on solute diffusion.
