Then select "Options" from the column on the left. The option "Open Cross-Document Links in same Window" should NOT be checked. Then select "Search" from the column on the left. The option "Document Information" should not be CHECKED. ------------- FUZZY DISPLAY ------------- If you experience a fuzzy on-screen display, go into the Edit menu to Preferences and select "Display" from the column on the left. Check (or uncheck) the options under "Smoothing." ========================= 3. To Begin Using this CD ========================= This CD contains a full-text search feature in the Adobe Acrobat Reader program (see "4. How to Search the Abstracts" for instructions on use) as well as the ability to browse by Author, Division of Interest, and Keyword (These features are all accessible by opening up the "browse.html" file on this CD-ROM). The Northeastern Branch and Western Branch Abstracts are also included on this CD-ROM and are viewable in the "browse.html" file. ============================== 4. How to Search the Abstracts ============================== In the Edit menu, select Search and then Select Index(es). Click Add, choose your CD-ROM drive in the Look In box at the top of the window, open the Browse folder and then the Catalog folder, and select "index.pdx" "Annual Meetings Abstracts 2002" should now be listed in the Available Indexes window. Make sure that the box next to "Annual Meetings Abstracts 2002" is checked. If there are any other indexes listed, uncheck the boxes next to them so that they will not be included in your search. In the Edit menu, select Search and then choose Query. This will open a new window. Type in the word you want to search for in the "Find Results Containing Text" box and click Search. This will bring up a list of the papers containing the search word. Double-click on a paper to open it. Note: If there is a Document Info section, do not use this section to search the Abstracts. Tip: When you have a list of papers in the search results window, you can just move the search results window off to the side, so you can read and/or print the current abstract. Then you can refer back to the search results window to open another abstract from the search without going through the whole search process again. ==================== 5.
